Air Force One is the plane used by the President of the United States. There are actually 2 Boeing VC-25 planes used as Air Force One both being highly customized Boeing 747 – 200B planes. Their Call-Signs are SAM-28000 and SAM-29000. These impressive planes have a square footage of 4,000 feet and contain multiple offices for the President, Secret Service, Staff and Press. There are 87 telephones on board as well as 19 televisions including a 50 - inch plasma TV. The planes have a top speed of 1,015 km/hr at 35,000 feet and a range, without refueling, of 13,000 km. They are loaded with state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment as well as sophisticated “Counter Measures” abilities in case of attack. Since 9/11 the President can now address the nation/world directly from Air Force One. They cost about $325,000,000.00. Nice perk!
