Welcome to Anne Burgoyne’s drawings and sketches gallery. Anne has been uploading her work shortly after this website was born.
The most surprising thing for me was to lean that Anne did not draw for
more than 35 years…. Then, in just one Sunday afternoon she sketched a
composite study of wild bird heads. All I can say is: awesome after such
a long time.
I am pointing out this seemingly irrelevant fact, but this is the point
my friends! Anne Burgoyne has an outstanding sense for capturing animal
shapes, and I must say again that this is after more than 35 years of non-artistic activity and with the arthritis in her fingers. That can be very hard and challenging.
Well, I am very happy that we can see Anne’s doodles and sketches.
Please observe and learn something new. Do your own doodles, sketches or
drawings and upload them here. We will be looking forward to seeing
your artwork :) If Ann can do it, you can do it too :)
This is a water colour A2 size using a limited palet of colours

This is my attempt at doing a mirror reflection and mist on water in the rear of the picture I did not do a lot to the background so not a lot of detail there as I was practicing mist and reflection on still water which I had not done before. This is my 1st animal doodle page in a sketch book done the same day as my 1st bird sketches after a long time away from drawing and painting over 35 years since I did any art so taking it up and trying drawing.
This is my 1st attempt at a fairy done in water colours size A4.
I have just taken up art again having not done any for over 35 years. I use oils and water colours back then and in school previously but not done anything until 14 weeks ago and took a leisure class in water colour painting. I never draw my picture and paint it straight off but I thought it may be good to get back to drawing as the last I did when I was 18 of Elvis and he signed it for me. It was around the same time I really stopped painting and at my age thought I would try again and hope to be able one day to make my drawings look like that which I am drawing more so the animals and peoples faces not easy as I have arthritis in my fingers but I will keep trying, this was just my Sunday afternoon doodle page in my scetch book A3 size.
1st drawing of a horses head
My 1st penguin done with pen and ink.
Done in sepia coloured ink with a pen. Just a quick sketch to try out my skills with drawing animals and using ink
More little sketches done in my sketch book which I use to learn to draw. These were done in the 14 weeks after I started my art quest, I had never drawn before. The sketch books I have are thought from within my head. A few copied or base lightly on pictures seen and the odd few copied from pictures thought not many all done is a short quick space of time say 10/15 min these were done in pencil and coloured pencils
My sketch book are quick doodle drawings done mainly out of my head. Some based or copied from pictures not many and some from life most are in pencil others have coloured pencil added.
These are from my sketch book. I started a sketch book to help me learn to draw. I have been in to art for about 15 weeks now and had never drawn before so thought it would be a good way to start my art so all my sketch books are works done quickly most are from out of my head not copied from pictures etc a few will be from life and odd ones copied or styled on pictures.
This is a doodle from one of my sketch books all drawings on the site are from doodles and sketches I have done since taking up this great hobby again in the last 13 weeks
