Ballpoint pen art in progress
An in-progress artwork with ballpens. Am using a photo reference but not copying it literally. Also, as you can see clearly, there is no usage of grids nor a complete plan of the art, with a pencil. Its "one by one" technique. Thus, starting somewhere on it, with a pencil then applying pens on it. Then moving to another one with pencil then pens. And the process goes on and on.
The usage of grids is important in photorealistic art, especially for people like me and may be most of you, who do not have, or cannot afford, to buy a professional projector. And in my opinion, generally, its not a problem using grids. But it is also good to be independant and develop our own mental accuracy.
