Did you know that cartoon hamster is one of the most popular cartoon characters?
I don’t know why but one of the reasons maybe because it is one of the cutest ones.
Always very alive, quick in action, running, jumping, skipping :)
When you leave a note to someone, you can decorate it with a quick illustration of this cartoon hamster too.
The person who receives such a note will be pleasantly surprised, I can guarantee that :)
First, draw a circle – the size of this circle is the size of the head.
Draw two perspective guidelines around the head circle as you see in the picture. Hamster’s nose will be at the intersection point of these guidelines.
Next, draw a pear-shaped body, this time in the horizontal position, as you see in this picture. Notice how the head circle largely overlaps the body.
Add the nose ellipse and add the eye ovals on the horizontal guidelines as you see in the picture. It is OK if you make mistakes, don’t worry, you can correct them later.
Use your pencil gently, do not push so hard. You are still drawing the first outlines and later you may need to erase them.
Draw the cheeks, and add the ears. Draw the nose and the mouth. Your hamster should be smiling.
Begin drawing the rest of the hamster’s body. Draw all four legs and the tail. When you draw the fingers, just sketch them roughly; don’t need to draw them precisely yet. We will come back to this later. Notice the hamster’s pose – as if ready to jump or run somewhere at any moment. Try to make such body posture.
Now, erase all unnecessary guidelines. Your hamster should look something like this. You can outline the contours of the fingers. Add the teeth into a smiling opened mouth.
Take a softer pencil (B4 or B6) and draw the contours of the entire body as you see in this picture. Now your hamster should look like this – a coloring page. Erase all the remaining unnecessary pencil lines.
So, the last stage is to color your cartoon character. You can use a standard HB pencil. A softer pencil is also OK. Notice that hamsters have these distinct lines on their back and the tail. Make them look similar.
