Lovely Artwork
by Sandy Lange

videotutorialbannerNEW

Let me introduce you to Sandy Lange from Vancouver, Washington. I like her very interesting and a bit unusual approach, a combination of hand made drawings with computer program.

She is making a lot of her artwork with pencils and chalks and I am sure you are going to enjoy her pictures.

I like Sandy’s straightforwardness and the simplicity of her drawings. Few objects on the canvas makes the message always clear.

I believe that you will find inspiration for your own drawings and artwork, whether hand made or by computer program.

I personally am not that big fan of computer drawing programs because I believe that real art should be done hand-made, by us humans. There is a reason behind it!

BUT, on the other hand, using computer program for some variations or color sampling, experimenting, etc. is an excellent idea and can save us hundreds of hours. Especially if you create graphic design, etc.

Sandy Lange used both techniques, hand made and computer program as well. Take a look, if you like these, you are welcome to send her your comments.

The best of all would always be submitting your own drawings, sketches, doodles or other artwork, that we all would love to see.

Enjoy Sandy Lange Drawings

Dry Summer Barn

Two drawings of same subject changed through the marvels of digitized computer art program. First one color pencils and chalk and second pen and ink.

Greenland Farmhouse

Sketched from a painting I liked. Then colored with color pencils and color chalk.

Old abandoned store, gas station

Found photograph while searching for ghost towns for metal detecting. Sketched with HB pencils and colored with computer art program.

Barn after a snowfall

I used HB graphite pencil and a free art program on computer.

Boats at dock

Sketched with HB pencil, then colored with color pencils. Finally turned into an oil sketch with a computer program.

Pacific Ocean Rock

Used HB pencil and Art program on the computer.

Found photo in gardening magazine and sketched it

Sketched photo with a No. 2 HB pencil. Then used a free computer art program to color it.

Little Bunny

Sketched with graphite pencil then colored it with color pencils. Then wrapped in plastic wrap with computer program. I have done this in past with acrylics and saran wrap. Results are most interesting.

Foxy, my Pomeranian

Took photo and converted to Black and White. Then framed it, added color, and changed the texture of canvas with a free art program on my computer.

Billy Goat Rough

Done in charcoal (color) and black pencil.

Young Buck

I have difficulty with perception because of an eye defect. Have difficulty and tendency to lean subjects to the left. So I usually do a very fast less than 5 minutes sketch. This helps me correct the problem when I re-sketch it and paint with color pencils. I then use baby oil or mineral spirits to turn it into a watercolor painting.

Little Cabin in the woods

Sketched with soft graphite pencil and color added with computer program. One of my earlier sketches.

Just an old farm truck

Used color pencils on rough canvas. Then used q-tips with mineral spirits to brighten the colors and imitate water painting.
